EGAWHEEL Documentation
V.7.10
Start EGAWHEEL by typing EGAWHEEL from the A: prompt.
EGAWHEEL is a version of the TV game show Wheel of
Fortune. It is written entirely in GWBASIC 3.20 and was
later compiled with Microsoft QuickBASIC 3.0. Since it is
compiled with the /o option, it does not require any run
time libraries.
To the best of my knowledge, EGAWHEEL has never been
placed in public domain Bulletin Boards. It has been
extensively play tested by friends and secretaries at my
workplace (and their homes), especially by my office mate,
Carl Klein. It has been found to run on all PC/XT/ATs and
clones (work-alikes to my friends in England) equipped with
various EGA cards and monitors, so far. Changes which are
described in the file CHANGES.DOC are the result of
nonconformity to rules, BUGS, etc.
An editor has been added to facilitate adding new clues
to your game. I personally have added over 850 clues from
various sources. Anyone wishing the full data base may
order a disk from me (my only compensation other than the
fun of writing and playing the game). Newer versions of the
game and editor, if any, will be included with the extended
data file. The larger data file causes the load to take
longer as it reads the file when it is setting up the
screen. I have not examined the memory needs of the program
as most people with EGA also have the full 640K memory.
Any suggestions for improvements are of course welcome.
I do not have the resources to rewrite the game for other
computers. Please, no more suggestions of digitizing the
Vanna White photos from PLAYBOY magazine! This is a family
game. Beware, younger children do not fully understand the
rules and are prone to fighting when one player monopolizes
the Wheel. Enjoy!-- Russell Mueller
